AI test case generator for Jira

Test cases from your Jira stories.
Questions before guesses.

Quorum Designer is an AI test case generator for Jira Cloud that reads the story and everything linked to it, asks about the rules the story leaves open, and sends the cases your QA accepts to Jira, Xray, Zephyr, TestRail or Qase.

One free trial per person. Card needed; cancel before day 7 and pay nothing. Jira Cloud, no Marketplace app to install.

Worked example

One Jira story.
Three questions, then the cases.

An illustrative story, the kind every backlog has: clear on the happy path, silent on the rules that cause bugs. Here is what Designer does with it.

01 · The story

SHOP-218

Apply a discount code at checkout

  1. AC 1A valid code reduces the order total by its percentage.
  2. AC 2An expired code shows “This code has expired” and leaves the total unchanged.
  3. AC 3The discount is shown as its own line in the order summary.

02 · What the story leaves open

  • Blocking

If the customer enters a second code, should it replace the first one, or be rejected?

    • Replace the first code
    • Reject: one code per order
    • Keep both
  • Blocking

Is the percentage taken before or after shipping costs?

    • Before shipping
    • After shipping
  • Assumption

I assume codes are not case-sensitive (“SAVE10” and “save10” are the same). Confirm it.

03 · Cases for your QA to accept

  • PositiveAC 1Valid code reduces the total by its percentage
  • PositiveAC 3Discount appears as its own line in the summary
  • NegativeAC 2Expired code shows the expiry message and keeps the total
  • EdgeAC 1Depends on assumptionCode typed in lowercase is accepted

The cases about stacking codes and shipping wait for your answers. A generator that does not ask would have picked one for you.

What to look for

Generating cases is easy.
Trusting them is the work.

Any language model can turn a story into fifty test cases. These are the questions we would ask of any AI test case generator for Jira, Quorum included.

  • It reads more than the story

Acceptance criteria rarely hold every rule. A useful generator reads the epic and the linked tickets before it writes.

  • It asks when the story is silent

A rule nobody wrote down is a decision for your team. Look for a tool that turns gaps into questions instead of filling them with plausible guesses.

  • Every case traces to a criterion

You should see which acceptance criterion each case covers, and which criteria have no case yet.

  • A person accepts before anything is written

Generated cases are proposals. Edits should arrive as a diff you approve, and nothing should reach Jira until someone accepts it.

  • Cases land where your team keeps them

Copy and paste from a chat window does not scale. The cases should go straight to Jira or your test tool, linked to the story.

  • You pay for the people who use it

Check whether the price depends on the testers or on every user of your Jira site. The difference grows with your company.

Not a Marketplace app

Connected to Jira.
Not installed in it.

If you searched the Atlassian Marketplace first, this is the difference: Quorum works next to Jira, with your own API token, so it is priced for the people who use it.

  • Nothing to install in Jira

Quorum is a separate web app. You connect your Jira Cloud site with your own API token, so there is no app for a Jira admin to approve and install.

  • Your token, encrypted

The Jira token and your test tool keys are stored encrypted and only ever sent to the tool they belong to. Ticket content goes to the AI model only to write your cases.

  • Billed per person, not per Jira site

A Marketplace app is licensed for every user of your Jira site. Quorum charges only for the people who use it.

  • Jira Cloud only

Quorum works with Jira Cloud. Jira Server and Data Center are not supported.

FAQ

Questions about AI test case generation.

Can AI generate test cases from Jira user stories?
Yes. Quorum Designer reads the story, its epic and its linked tickets, and drafts positive, negative and edge cases, each tied to an acceptance criterion. Where the story leaves a rule open, it asks you instead of guessing.
Are the generated cases created in Jira automatically?
No. Every case is a proposal. Your QA accepts, edits or rejects each one, and changes asked for in chat arrive as a diff to approve. Only accepted cases are created, in Jira or in your test tool.
What happens when the acceptance criteria are ambiguous?
The gap becomes a question: blocking when the answer changes what a case expects, or an assumption stated out loud for you to confirm. Every case that rests on an open question is flagged until you answer it.
Which test management tools does it work with?
Jira itself (sub-tasks or linked issues), Xray (Manual tests with steps), Zephyr, TestRail and Qase, in their cloud editions. Each Jira project chooses where its cases go.
Our stories have no acceptance criteria. Does it still work?
Yes. When a story has only a description, Designer proposes acceptance criteria from it, labelled as inferred, and the cases built on them wait for you to confirm.
Does it work with tickets written in another language?
Yes. Designer writes the cases and its questions in the language the ticket is written in, so a team that writes stories in Spanish reviews Spanish test cases.
How much does it cost?
Designer is $39 a month per person on Pro, or $79 on Power for a much larger AI allowance. You pay for the people who use it, not for every user of your Jira site. The first 7 days are free, with one free trial per person.
