Quorum vs Xray

Looking for an Xray alternative?
Count who you pay for.

Xray is billed on every user of your Jira site; Quorum, per person who uses it. Designer writes the test cases of a Jira story with AI, asks about the rules the story leaves open, and creates what your QA accepts as Xray Manual tests. Reporter, coming soon, is the test management part.

One free trial per person. Card needed; cancel before day 7 and pay nothing. Works with the Xray you already have.

  • What it is

    Xray
Test management inside Jira, with tests as native Jira issue types: “not synced or duplicated data”.
    Quorum
DesignerReporterComing soonDesigner designs the test cases of a Jira story with AI. Reporter keeps, runs and reports on them.
  • Pricing model

    Xray
An Atlassian Marketplace app, billed on every user of your Jira site, not only the people who test. Xray has Standard and Advanced editions.
    Quorum
Per person: Designer per person who designs cases, Reporter per tester. Never per user of your Jira site.
  • List price

    Xray
App listing, cloud: up to 10 users $10 a month. Above that, per user a month: $7.28 up to 100 users, $3.70 up to 250, $2.12 up to 1,000. Other editions are priced separately.
    Quorum
    Designer Pro $39 a month or $390 a year (Power $79). Reporter $12 per tester a month or $120 a year.
  • Free plan and trial

    Xray
    A 30-day trial.
    Quorum
No free plan. A 7-day free trial, card needed, one per person.
  • Jira integration

    Xray
Runs inside Jira as a Marketplace app, with “native Jira issue types, not synced or duplicated data”. Jira Cloud, Server and Data Center.
    Quorum
A separate web app connected to Jira Cloud with an API token: nothing to install in Jira. Jira Server and Data Center are not supported.
  • AI test case generation

    Xray
AI Test Case Generation creates Manual and Cucumber tests from requirements; you review, edit or discard them before they are created (Standard, Advanced and Enterprise). AI script generation needs Advanced; test models need Xray Enterprise.
    Quorum
DesignerDesigner reads the story, its epic and linked tickets, drafts the suite and turns each rule the story leaves open into a question instead of a guess. Every case and every change is a proposal your QA accepts.
  • Bugs from failed tests

    Xray
Tests are created, managed and executed as Jira issues, so results stay in Jira.
    Quorum
ReporterComing soonFrom a failed result, AI drafts the Jira bug (steps, expected and actual result, environment). Nothing is created until a person accepts it.
  • Import from other tools

    Xray
Test Case Importer from CSV or JSON, with guides for Zephyr Scale, Zephyr Squad and qTest.
    Quorum
No automatic import yet. Designer sends new cases to your current tool, so you can start without moving anything.
  • Hosting

    Xray
Jira Cloud, Jira Server and Jira Data Center.
    Quorum
    Cloud only, for Jira Cloud.

What Quorum adds

AI-assisted.
Never autonomous.

In our view, a test case is only as good as the rule it checks, and generating first leaves the cleanup to you. That is why the AI asks, proposes and drafts, and a person decides.

  • AI that asks instead of guessing

When a story leaves a rule open, Designer asks, with concrete options: blocking when the answer changes what a case expects, an assumption stated out loud when it does not. Cases that rest on an open question are flagged.

    Designer
  • Proposals your QA reviews

Every new case and every change arrives as a proposal, a diff your QA accepts, edits or rejects. Nothing reaches Jira or your test tool until a person accepts it.

    Designer
  • Bug drafts, not bug spam

From a failed result, Reporter’s AI drafts the Jira bug from the case, the failed step, your note and the story. A person edits and accepts it; only then is it created and linked.

Which to choose

Pick the tool
that fits your team.

Xray is the better choice for some teams, and we would rather say so here than lose your trust later. Or use both: Designer works with Xray.

Choose Xray if

  • You want your tests to be Jira issues, inside Jira.
  • Your Jira site is small: up to 10 users, the listing is a flat monthly fee.
  • You run Jira Server or Data Center, or write BDD tests in Cucumber.
  • You need to import from Zephyr, qTest or CSV today.

Choose Quorum if

  • Most people on your Jira site never test, and you would rather pay per tester.
  • Your stories leave rules open, and you want the AI to ask about them instead of guessing.
  • You want to keep Xray and add AI test design in front of it: Designer creates Xray Manual tests.
  • You want test cases out of your Jira backlog: Reporter links cases to stories without creating an issue per case.

Xray is preset. Enter your team size and see a year of Xray next to a year of Quorum Reporter, from published list prices with the source linked.

Your team today

Everyone who writes or runs test cases. Reporter is priced per tester.

Xray is billed on every user of your Jira site, developers and product people included, not only on testers. Up to 2,000 here; for a larger site, check the listing.

Billing period

A year for 8 testers

  • Xray$100

  • Quorum ReporterComing soon$960

    $120 per tester a year

Enter the people on your Jira site: Xray bills every one of them. Until then this counts your testers only, its lowest possible price.

At this size, Reporter does not cost less

Xray costs $860 less a year at list prices. Reporter’s case is then the workflow: cases that arrive from Designer already linked to their story, and Jira bugs drafted for your QA to accept.

Get notified

Reporter is coming soon. “Get notified” opens an email to us; no mailing list.

  • Billed on all 8 users of your Jira site, not only the testers.
  • Yearly licence for the next user tier up, as the Marketplace sells it.
  • Price of the app’s listing; other editions are priced separately, check the listing.
  • US dollars, before taxes. List prices as of October 2026; they can change, so check their site. Source: Xray on the Atlassian Marketplace (opens in a new tab).
  • A price comparison, not a feature one: other tools do things Reporter’s first version does not, such as importing cases or CI results, custom fields and shared steps.

Moving from Xray

No import wizard yet.
Nothing to move today.

Quorum cannot import your Xray cases automatically today, and we will not pretend it can. This is how teams start without moving anything.

  1. 01

    Keep Xray, add Designer

Nothing moves. Designer creates the accepted cases as Xray Manual tests with their steps, linked to the story for coverage.

  2. 02

    Switch at the next release

When Reporter launches, new cases go into a Reporter folder linked to their story. Recreate only the regression tests you still run.

  3. 03

    Keep the history

Your Xray tests stay in Jira as issues. Keep the app until you no longer need old executions; we can plan the move with you.

FAQ

Questions about Quorum and Xray.

Is Quorum an Xray alternative?
In part, today. Quorum Designer is AI test design, not test management: it writes the cases of a Jira story and creates them as Xray Manual tests. Quorum Reporter is the test management part, at $12 per tester a month. Reporter is coming soon: it is not on sale yet.
Do I pay for every Jira user with Xray?
Yes, as the Atlassian Marketplace prices it: an app is licensed for every user of the Jira site. As of October 2026 the cloud listing is $10 a month up to 10 users, then $7.28 per user a month up to 100 users, with lower rates above. Quorum Reporter is priced per tester instead.
Does Xray have AI test case generation?
Yes. Xray’s pages describe AI Test Case Generation for Manual and Cucumber tests, in Standard, Advanced and Enterprise, where you review, edit or discard the generated tests before they are created. AI test script generation needs Advanced, and test model generation Xray Enterprise.
Does Quorum work with Xray?
Yes. Designer sends the cases your QA accepts straight into Xray, linked to their Jira story. You keep Xray for runs and reports and add AI test design in front of it, from $39 a month per person.
Can I import my Xray test cases into Quorum?
Not automatically yet. Start with your next release: Designer writes the new cases, you recreate the regression cases you still run, and Xray stays read-only for its history. For a hand-held move, write to support@usequorum.dev. Reporter is coming soon: it is not on sale yet.
Is Quorum an Atlassian Marketplace app?
No. Quorum is a separate web app that connects to Jira Cloud with an API token, so there is nothing to install in Jira and nothing billed per Jira user. Jira Server and Data Center are not supported.
Does the AI write to Jira on its own?
Never. Designer proposes cases and changes; your QA accepts each one before anything reaches Jira or Xray. In Reporter, a bug drafted by AI is created only after a person accepts it.
